We're visiting Cape Cod in June and wondering where we should stay and eat. We previously lived in CT before moving to Los Angeles a few years ago. When we lived in the East Coast, we enjoyed visiting Martha's Vineyard about once a year. We would love to visit again this year, but we only have 2 nights (driving down from Boston on a Sunday and driving to CT on Tuesday) that we're planning to just stay in the mainland. The other complication is we will have our 11-month old twins with us.
So the question is, where should we stay and where should we eat? We really like Oak Bluffs so looking for that kind of feel if possible. Walkable, family friendly, lively, stuff to see, but not cheap and kitschy. We've driven around the Cape before but don't really remember anything standing out. The outer cape is probably a little too far for us. We generally prefer casual restaurants with a focus on food quality versus ambiance/service. Definitely planning to go to quintessential Cape Cod experiences we don't have in LA so fried seafood, late night ice cream, etc. We've been to Sesuit Harbor Cafe and it seems that's still what's recommended in that category? We really like Menemsha Fish Market and Mad Martha's in MV.
