Cape Breton Nova Scotia Sunday breakfasts

Quite awhile ago I posted a message about the St Georges Channel Sunday Breakfasts. I said I would let chowhounds know if the volunteers who run this great breakfast where going to run it throughout the summer months. I am happy to report that it will carry on the third Sunday of every month and the hours are 9am to 11am. In case anyone missed the earlier post St Georges Channel, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia is located on the Bras D'Or lakes just past the Dundee Resort. They serve an all you can eat breakfast of Ham, mushroom, green and red pepper and cheese omelette, pancakes with syrup, saussage, baked beans, toast, coffee, and assorted fruit. The price is an unbelievable $6.00.
In the same area ( near Orangedale) on the last Sunday of the month, Valley Mills fire hall holds a Sunday brunch. They serve eggs, saussage, bacon, toast for breakfast items. The brunch items always change and could include such things as lasagne, baked beans, chicken, many salads or what ever else is brought in by local volunteers. It is excellent and you should get there early ( starts at 11am.) to make sure you get a seat. The Maritimes are known for these local volunteer efforts and tourists are lucky to be able to share the eating experience as well as meet some of the very friendly people of the area. Most grocery and variety stores will have notice boards which have postings of local meals served at churches, community centres ect. Take a look and you will be in for a treat.
