Cannoli Joe's

We were way down south, which we never are, and my wife and son really like buffets to sample different things, so I was thinking about Cannoli Joe's just as we passed it. I suggested we give it a try. My expectations were extremely low.

However, I was pleasantly surprised. Service was very good, manager checked on tables, glasses were full, plates were whisked away and the place was spotless. Only one dish, the chicken parm, looked dried out. The rest of the food was all at the right temperature and very fresh. They had filet mignon there, it was tender, a tad over done for me, but I think they'll cook it how you like. The Italian sausage had a tad too much fennel for my taste, but was otherwise good. I tried several pasta dishes, a couple of which were insanely rich, but very tasty. The veggie lasagna and meat lasagna had great taste and texture. The bruschetta was very well executed with a nice pesto and another with white bean relish. The pasta salads were al dente and flavorful and the desserts were very good, with a couple of imaginitive twists.

Buffets aren't for most of the crowd here and I get that, I'm usually not a buffet person, but if you're eating at one or are tired of Chinese buffets, this is the one I'd choose down south. I'd pick it over Olive Garden *shudder* or Macaroni Grill. It's owned by the County Line folks and they've executed it pretty well.
