Looking for canned herring roe (non-Japanese)

Just took a great trip to the Tidewater Virginia and North Carolina areas (including the Outer Banks) and had some great stuff with river herring (and its larger relative, shad - both alosa spp). The fried whole river herring for breakfast were great - similar to the fried iwashi i had at Izayoi downtown, and the breakfast combo of herring roe and scrambled eggs were as close to some shandong dishes as i've had anywhere. Really great.

So - i know that the fish is back, they are catching it again - doesanyone know anywhere in teh southern california that carries the herring roe (fish, alosa aestivalis, aka blueback herring, blueback shad) ?

Just FYI here's a richmond times-dispatch piece on the herring run up the james river with video

and for the curious, I did have shad roe in richmand and Mamma zu's.
