Candle 79

NYC Diner | Aug 4, 2004 10:14 AM

WOW! Last night I went with a party of 3 to Candle 79 -you'd think there'd be nothing to write... not true. AMAZING: I have been almost everywhere, I know many people in the industry - this veggie spot keeps a low profile. Been to the more casual 3rd ave location many times - but 79, (the site of Waxman's Jams) is a treat. We had three apps, three entrees and two sides , then 3 deserts, a bottle of champagne and the house comped one desert for a birthday. Total bill: $173 (ncluding a $50 bottle of champagne). Not bad, right? I had a seitan dish that was wonderful and the best thing is you leave feeling great. We went b/c someone in our group is having some high cholesteral issues, and I must say - it is no real trauma to go veggie if you can frequent Candle 79. I know I am supposed to tell you asll what we had, but I am not good at remembering what it was all called - various grains, and veggies, etc, loll.. you all get it.. bottom line - it was wonderful. we will return.
