Candied Walnuts - how do you make them?

I LOVE candied walnuts in my salads - lends a beautiful contrasting sweet crunch to the bitter greens and tart vinagrette. In Chinese restaurants, I always get the Walnut Prawns, not because I like the mayonnaisey prawns, but because of the walnuts!

I bought the Diamond brand from the supermarket and hated them (they looked like mass produced toffee nuts). The kind I've bought from organic markets seemed home-made and were more like what I was looking for.

Okay, now to the point:
How do you candy walnuts?
(I'm not sure if what I'm trying to get at is glazed walnuts, is there a difference between glazed and candied?)

I heard it has something to do with boiling them in sugar and lifting them out. But wouldn't they clump up?
