CANADIANS - what is your favourite Margo Oliver recipe?

Georgia Strait | Jan 13, 201301:40 PM

Margo Oliver was the Cdn Betty Crocker - her cooking articles and recipes were in the Weekend Magazine in most city newspapers - plus she had numerous books - she is (was) from Winnipeg

the Butterscotch Sundae layer cake is still a family fav, along with the green apple pancakes with brown sugar hard sauce - and the chicken marengo ---

i am on a retro recipe kick these past couple of years - 50's to 70's era - trying to make all those things that our grands and parents made for us (often unappreciated, the tastes and talk about LOCAL food were sadly lost on us --- we were more excited about the first McD's in Vancouver - out on Boundary and Lougheed)

remember how most newspapers and major stores had their own home economists - Edith Adams ... who was the lady at Woodwards (out west) food floors - can't recall (Mona something) and then there was the "fake" betty crocker type kitchen at woodwards - Bea Wright was the home economist's name (a betty crocker type pseudonym)
anyway - if you know an older person who is tidying out their home - salvage the Margo Oliver cookbooks and enjoy! (if nothing else, enjoy the retro food styling and photography!)
