Just wanted to post a quick report on Campanile. Shared a soft shell crab sandwich and trout dish with my mom. Both were great. The trout was well cooked and well seasoned, with sort of a lemon "brothy" sauce. The grain salad served on top of it was a miss, so i politely pushed it to the side of my plate. My only complaints: the bread served on the table. I was prepared for some nice, crusty La Brea bread. To my dissappointemnt, the bread was cold and just not very good or tasty. Also, the coffee!! Bad tasting!! Anyone else agree? Other than that, the food was delicious and worthy of a return trip.
Oh yea, and we had an apricot "rustic" for dessert (a warm, crunchy pastry enclosed with apricot, with a great vanilla bean suce on the side). Yum!
