Well, Campagnia exceeded all of my expecatations! This place is the Bluehour of Fresno! LOL I had made a reservation on Open Table for 5:15 and we were promptly seated at a nice table. I love the decor of this restaurant. Swank, contemporary, and the outdoor atrium/patio area with the misters is just beautiful. It was almost 110 degrees, so we opted to sit inside.
I was also very surprised that the salads, entrees and desserts are very moderately priced, IMO. I ordered a glass of Sauv Blanc from New Zealand which was crisp, cool and fragrant. The 4.50 salad was very good with mixed greens and unique Japanese tea crackers which were very good. There was a light miso dressing that complemented the salad ingredients very nicely.
My entree was the salmon which was preapred to perfection and very good. My dining partner had the chicken which he said was simply the best chicken he had had in a long time, even some spinach gnocchi that I picked off of his plate. By 6:00pm the place was full on a Wed. night. Very nice for large groups with a banquet room in the back. I'm considering having our rehearsal dinner here for my son's upcoming wedding.
Dessert was the peach crisp with vanilla bean ice cream and two spoons. Excellent and the perfect sweet ending to the meal. Campagnia is also open for lunch which I hope to try very soon.
This is a wonderful special occasion restaurant, or in our case an "I want to go out to dinner" place. We'll become regulars here real fast. Desserts are only 5.95 which isn't bad for this quality of a restaurant. We ordered a chicken fettucini to a hungry teenage boy at home. I had some for lunch yesterday, and this was also very good.
Our bill for three entrees, a glass of wine, two salads and a dessert was around $70. I highly recommend a visit to this fine Fresno eatery to anyone in the area. It's the Bluehour of Fresno! Bon appetit! ***kim***
