My wife & I had the pleasure to dine at Camel City Cafe in Winston-Salem last night. This is a new place in the former building that gave birth to Jason & Mary's and West End Cafe. Its most recent incarnation was Bella Cucina, a poor Italian joint.
The owner used to be a partner in Triad Wind Company, and his interest in wine shows. A vast # of wines are available by the glass (although they are a bit pricey). My wife had a Coriole Shiraz which was wonderful (9+). I stuck with beer since I'd been imbibing malted barley earlier.
We had four appetizers rather than entrees: BBQ Shrimp (9), Pate de Campagne (9+), a cheese platter (8+) and the pizza du jour (a language amalgamation, I realize) asparagus, tomato sauce, roasted garlic and onion (9+).
I highly recommend this place--corner of W 4th and Brookstown in the heart of the West End.
