Needed a quick bite before catching a movie at Kendall. Usually share a small pie at Emma's, but was in the mood for apps. CBC fit the bill, as it often has, w/the added advantage of outdoor dining(weather permiting)tho' not last night, reasonable prices & generous plates. Had the grilled calamari & hummus app. 3 nice-sized squid bodies fanned out on a drizzle of red pepper aioli with a squiggle of green ?basil oil, ice cream-sized scoop of hummus & a light lemony salad of mixed micro greens. Friend had the Caesar salad w/anchovies that was huge w/lots of shaved parmesian. Calamari were tender with a light, smoky flavor from grilling, hummus-hearty & savory, and green salad-piquant & refreshing. For only $9, a bargain & meal in itself for me. I tried the Blunderbuss Barleywine that was playfully served in a small snifter for $4.95. Had always wanted to try BW - glad I did, but probably wouldn't order it again-too sweet for me. Am more a SA Winter Lager type, w/its citrus & ginger accents.
