the cambodian dessert of my childhood

Ali Naderzad | Apr 4, 200405:15 PM     8

when I was a child growing up in France we had a Cambodian nanny; every once in a while, she made a dessert from her country which I remember to this day but never again encountered. If anyone can help me find the recipe online (or elsewhere) or give me the name of it, that would be great. I would qualify this as "Cambodian-style coconut/rosewater-jello." Basically after various maneuvers and permutations she would pour a clear liquid into a dish and let it in the fridge where it would solidify for a day. When the dish was ready, it looked like an inch-thick layer of clear-jello covered with a white-colored frosting-like layer (a thin one) of coconut/rosewater. She would divide it into small cubes and serve it to me and my brother; it's been over twenty years and I still remember this.

Anyone know about this? thanks for emailing me directly.
