Call Your Mother (But not Often) in DC

Steve | Oct 30, 202006:28 PM     1

Call Your Mother has now several locations and has taken off very quickly as a choice for upscale bagels and bagel sandwiches. Is the extra expense worth it?

I tried the zaatar bagel. I was surprised at how squishy it was and not at all like any bagel I've had. Maybe that makes for a better sandwich as bagels are not a good choice to make a sandwich to begin with. But as a stand alone product, it was soft and also had a surprising sweet taste to the interior. I put it far behind most offerings in the area.

I also tried the chocolate babka muffin. It is extraordinarily rich and chocolatey, so I rate that a full five star Chowhound delight. Score one for the dessert-as-breakfast crowd.
