It being the season again for nice hot soup, I've had a hankering for wonderful Mexican seafood soup like I used to find all over Los Angeles: caldo de camaron (shrimp), caldo de pulpo (octopus), caldo siete mares (seven seas mixed seafood), served with chopped onions/cilantro/lime to throw in, and steaming hot tortillas.

I've been searching the heck out of this, and so far have only come up with one place in the Seattle area: Taqueria Tequila in Greenwood.

I went there yesterday; the only choice was caldo siete mares. It wasn't bad - a fairly large bowl for $13.50, packed full of shrimp, scallops, octopus, crab, white fish and mussels. The seafood was cooked right, though I thought the broth was a bit thin.

I imagine I'll have to head south for more choices. I'd especially like to find the pulpo version, where the octopus is not tough but silky in texture, and the broth redolent of onions, carrot & tomato. Suggestions anyone?
