So Cal food writers - who, what, when?

I just moved from SF to a suburb of San Diego, but close enough, for me, to get to the LA area often.

Yes, I'm getting a subscription to the LA version of the chow news, but who are the local food reviewers? What days of the week do the food reviews get published? Besides the Times, what other publications have food reviews? Whose opinions do chowhounds respect and who is not worth reading?

There's a LA board, so I'm assuming you folks do eat down here. How do you do it and look so good? It's not that we San Franciscans are not a handsome people, but, my goodness, I haven't seen so much skin and buff bodies outside of the movies. It will give me inspiration to stick to my flagging and unending diet.

So what's the skinny on your food reviewers? Am I just not finding them in the Friday and Sunday version of the LA Times?
