I purchased cake flour a while back (the common variety with the swan on the box).
Nigella's fairy cakes call for self-rising cake flour but I couldn't find any indication of self-rising on the flour box. I added some baking soda to the recipe as a precaution and they turned out okay.
Is the swan cake flour actually self-rising?
If not, was adding soda the right thing to do or should I substitute something else next time?
