Cafes & shops in the 14th

Bonjour! It's been six years since I was last in Paris. On that trip my boyfriend and I stayed in the 11th and I received lots of great advice on this board. We ate so well. Now we're going back for a month (I'm going for archival work at the Cinémathèque française) but we will have our 19-month old twins and my mother as well. We're staying in the 14th, close to the northwestern tip of Parc Montsouris. I'm looking for recommendations of good cafés and shops (boulangeries, etc.) in the area. We don't plan on doing any serious dining out with our kids but want to eat well.
(And of course, we'll get away for dinner sans kids as often as possible. I just made a reservation at Chez Dumonet for my husband'a birthday because we missed it last time. It's a big birthday, though, so we will probably extend the celebration for a couple days and hit some old favorites as well). Thank you in advance for any advice.
