Cafe Rouge for Valentine's Day lunch

Some friends and my husband and I went to Cafe Rouge last Saturday for lunch. We don't celebrate Valentine's Day, so this isn't a special trip just for that.
Anyway, we had reservation and was seated pretty quickly.
The four of us shared their charcuterie plate and smoked salmon for starters. The charcuterie plate was very delicious. Three types of meats, pate and rouiette (sp?) with olives, and cornichons. The smoked salmon was okay but nothing special.
Friends and husband had hamburger and steak frits, while I had their clams (some sort of brothy, soup, with bean and cabbage). The meat dishes looked very yummy. Had a bite of husband's steak and was very tender and juicy. My clams were pretty good too. I ordered it mostly to be "good" on my diet.
The food was good but the service was extremely slow. The restaurant was not mobbed because it was V day, it seems like the waiter just wasn't paying attention to us. My water glass sat empty twice, and long wait for the dessert menu with no acknowledgement that our dishes were empty.

The whole 4th st. area in Berkeley is so nice on a sunny day. Next time, we probably would just go to something a lot less formal.
