Cafe Patrique in Dallas

My wife and I went to one of our favorite pasta and pizza places last night, Johnny Orleans on Forest Lane, only to find a notice on the door that they had been evicted for failing to pay the rent. We saw the new Cafe Patrique across the street and decided to give it a try - MISTAKE!

The atmosphere of Cafe Patrique is unappetizing at best. The building was formerly a Boston Market, and it hasn't been changed much other than the bright red paint inside and out.

Many of the menu items featured Risotto, so if you are not a fan of extremely overcooked rice, then your selections are few. We started with an appetizer of Crab Risotto, but I'm not sure where the crab was.

After that experience, I decided to stick with the Rosemary Chicken Ceaser. It was served almost bone-dry, and the chicken tasted like it had been cooked a week ago. I get better ceaser salads at the deli in the office building where I work.

My wife had the Telapia, which was better, but so smothered in a thick citrus sauce that it didn't taste like anything but oranges.

We finished off this bad experience by paying the inflated bill and swearing we would never be back.
