Cafe Milan - Playa del Rey

Jimbo | Jun 11, 2004 01:30 PM

Woke up this morning and could hardly speak. Not feeling too bad just couldn't talk. GF and I usually go down to Cafe Milan for coffee and breakfast a couple days a week. Food is decent though nothing worth driving very far for. Same goes for the coffee.

Why we go there is first we can walk, run, or bike there. Second it's near the beach and uncrowded (most of the time) and has a good neighborhood feel to it. It's like the old "Cheers" theme song, a place where everybody knows your name. Also there is a community table where anyone is welcome to sit down and either talk to the other people or read the paper or both. Mostly the "retired young" or self employed crowd. My kind of crowd, they don't mind if you dissagree, in fact they tend to prefer it.

This morning GF went down wothout me and my absence was noticed, I will not go so far to say I was missed though may be a possibility. The owner immediately sent her back home with hot soup and a full breakfast (on the house) and his best wishes.

How many places in LA will do this for a regular? I can't think of another but perhaps that's just because of where I live.
