Cafe K in Manhattan: Review

Barbara K. | Nov 21, 2004 10:05 PM

Late Sunday afternoon/early evening, we had dinner for 3 at Cafe K on 48th St. between 5th & Madison. I had eaten at the branch on 18th Ave. in Brooklyn, a while back, and was pleased with the food and service.
This was our first time at the branch in Manhattan.
We each ordered fish: 1 baby salmon, 1 flounder francaise, and 1 Salmon Special with a tomato sauce, onions and sun dried tomatoes. All three dishes were excellent. The portions were humongous, with generous side dishes; and the presentation was very nice. Our desserts of marble cheesecake, pecan pie, and ice cream, chosen from among a generous selection, were also very good. The service was very good, and in my experience, the prices were quite reasonable compared to any of the upscale dairy restaurants in the city (Il Patrizio, Va Bene, and Gusto va Mare, & My Most Favorite... come to mind.) Maybe the ambience was not quite as nice, as some of these others, but it was certainly decent.
I would highly recommend it to those who haven't tried it yet.
