hi all, just wanted to tell everyone about a great new chowhoundish spot that i went to the other day. friends of a friend of mine, named mike and jen, opened it just recently. it is a funky cafe located near 13th and callowhill, in what they call the "loft district". the food, in general, is italian inspired (not italian-american more authentic style) with fresh and creative salads and pannini and such. I have been there twice so far and loved everything, but the ham, brie and pear pannini ($6.50 with side salad!) was my favorite to date. it had a nice champagne and shallot mustard spread and excellent foccacia like bread. also good was the salad i had with tuna, olives, capers and sun dried tomatoes (also $6.50 served with grilled bread). the place has a really cool wharehouse vibe and some especially interesting photographs from a local artist on the walls. The waitresses are super friendly (maybe i got special treatment because i have some connection to the owners?). anyway, I recommend checking it out when you have the time.
has anybody else been there yet?
