cafe juanita on rivington street -- ew

i went to cafe juanita last night -- it's on rivington bwn suffolk (i think) and clinton in the spot that was formerly the adorable loisada coffee shop. the drinks were fantastic -- tasty watermelon and passion fruit margaritas on the rocks. but... the service was beyond deplorable. our waitress simply forgot to put our orders in (she was really nice about it, but it was still wack), so we sat for over half an hour waiting for a simple quesadilla and pressed sandwich. when both finally came, they were pure crap. the quesadilla was dry and floppy -- nothing holding it together! the pressed fish sandwich also was completely dry -- no sauce, seasoning, etc. there are any number of better latin restaurants in the area, even san loco, which isn't exactly haute cuisine but is far far better and way cheaper. el nuevo amanacer is way better, as is the dominican restaurant on rivington - el castillo de jagua:

which is always friendly and very very inexpensive.

this place is owned by the same folks who own the bars belly and welcome to the johnsons and 151. they should definitely stick to bars.
