Had a great dinner at Cafe Hiro recently. The Crispy Fried Jidori Chicken Cutlet I ordered was awesome. Still juicy, with a light breading that was crunchy and not greasy. It is served with ramekin of sour ponzu sauce which was a perfect compliment. A side of steamed veggies dressed with citrus and soy rounded out the flavors.
My two friends ordered the Salmon Saiko and Sea Bass with Risotto. Both loved it.
The calamari appetizer was a bit soggy though. Not crispy enough and the squid was a bit rubbery. It doesn't seem like they do this dish well in the times I ordered it. I will have to pass on it next time.
The service was slow the night we went, and I think the waiter sensed that we were getting hungrier by the minute as we waited. We actually had to remind him that we didn't get our soups yet. To apologize, he gave us two coupons for 4 free desserts for our next visit. No problem there, since we will be back again!
