Cafe Habana

Went to Cafe Habana last night for bar snacks and mojitos. This place seems to fall off the radar screen, compared to its more dramatic competition in Center City, so just thought I'd share how great it was.

I found the food to be simple and authentic (I've never been to Cuba, but have spent alot of time with Cubans in the Keys). The presentation was nothing special. The mojito glasses were basic ol' bar tumblers. However, the ceviche exploded with bright flavor and the croquetas were the perfect combination of crispy exteriors and tender savory fillings (both chicken and ham) paired with a fabulously tangy piquante-type sauce. An avocado salad with tamarind dressing and diced pineapple was a nice balance of flavors. And most importantly for our mission last night, the mojitos are hands down THE best in the city.

To top it off, the service was very helpful and responsive.

Its a great place for an informal and inexpensive dinner, especially for last minute.

Would love to hear if anyone has tried their weekend brunch? It sounded wonderful and I'm hoping to go back soon.
