curious what others think. had a delicious meal, service was ok, ambiance was a mix bet older uws'ers wearing shorts & sandals with socks to the family unit with baby carriages to the trendy on cellphones. HOWEVER, the ac is either turned down or is in need of repair, the wine list is an insult. simple veuve cliquot brut, admittedly the bottom rung is $110!!?? simple beaujolais-village is $36!!?? all the others are too ridiculous to list here. landmarc in tribeca lists veuve @ $50, pietro's, very expensive midtown italian steakhouse charges $30 for the same beauj-vill!! i refuse to believe people will frequent a restaurant that so rips off their customer base. additionally, bwy & 104th is not exactly midtown.
also, a little tired of the shilling for gavroche - a no name former sous chef producing barely passable food & also has exceedly high wine prices, & this on 14th bet 7th & 8th.
as for park bistro, its NEVER crowded, been through so many chefs its comical, average food at the usual higher-than-justified prices. their fate may follow the owners of jubilee who thought they could open a sister bistro on w51st bet 8th & 9th serving average food, terrible service, & those same high wine prices that the east side restaurant charges its clientele who seem to be oblivious the price-to-quality ratio. guess what? jubilee51 is no more - duh, i wonder why?
it never ceases to amaze how people who will travel to save a $1 on grocercies, but will order an average wine marked up 4x??!! forget about the "new" trend of $5 for a bud - vs. - a $.50 cost!!!!
