Cafe di Roma: CLOSED!

baltoellen | Sep 10, 2005 11:45 AM

so sorry to be the bearer of the bad news. Went by for dessert after a perfectly satisfying dinner at Duda's, only to see the place totally dark. Peering in, we saw the refridgerator cases gone, and a few boxes on the floor. All packed up and moved out.

We headed to Vaccarro's (a poor subsitutute, I know), and took our gelato over to the bocci court. There I ended up talking to the president of the Little Italy Neighborhood Assoc who said that they just closed this week because the landlord had doubled their rent. According to Madam President, they have no plans at all to reopen.

We sat around and mourned the loss. The hunt for superior gelato will continue....
