There's been some negative comments on this board concerning Cafe Del Mar on Henry Street. Since its opening, the original chef and owner Nando whatever, who churns out awful places, Balzar being one of them, left. The new chef is a nice guy who worked at Le Cirque, soon to be joined by his wife, a pastry chef, who also worked there. The owner is right off the boat from Sardinia. I don't know what the food was like when the restaurant opened, but it is very good now--better than anything in the Heights, and just as good as the best places on Smith, as is the service. It's well worth a try.
And before anyone accuses me of being a schill for the owner or chef--I'm not. Just liked the place and wanted to spread the word.
