Café Boulud

Having dined (for a lack of better word) twice I feel strongly enough the need to share the experience I had this spot. Both were planned trips first being a friend's birthday dinner and second a weekend outing (both with reservations).
First experience was a full meal where we had mains as well as sides and desserts. For a reputable chef this is a sheer disappointment. The mains we had were below average. The whole roasted chicken while visually stunning was dry. For me the yardstick for Cafe i.e Steak frites faltered. The fries were soggy and not good. The steaks (we had 2 orders of different cuts) were over salted and completely took away any enjoyment. The desserts were a standout. The Grapefruit Givre' is a complex venture though it has been pulled off with great grace and doesn't disappoint. I would rate the mains below Le Societe'.
Now the second visit we booked a weekend outing we had to wait over 45 min for seating, unacceptable IMO. The attitude starts from the front of the house and continues till the end. They only explanation that was given we are unable to find your table. I know tables have legs but I don't think they can run away unless pushed :)
By the time we sat down we had lost our appetite only had dessert. The rotisserie pineapple is excellent, the chocolate coulant is average Givre was great again. I know they will get packed night after due to the hotel guests/location but I don't think I will be back. Having tried the cafe's now defunct outpost in Vancouver I am quite disappointed in an opportunity missed.
