Had lunch there this afternoon and it was pleasant, not awesome. We had the following:
Apps: Beet tartar with a goat cheese mousse on top and fricasse on top of that and Potato vicyssouse (sp?) with some sort of fish in it.
Not a fan of beets, but it was good. Really like the soup and I don't go for chilled soups. The chilled watercress soup at Chanterelle was really awful, last week's lunch.
Entrees: Both had the atlantic cod with fresh corn and a nice creamy sauce. The other choices were goat cheese ravioli and a chicken dish which neither of us wanted. So in a very unchowhoundish manner, we ordered the same entree and didn't share.
Dessert: chocolate mousse sandwiched between lace cookies and pistachio ice cream on top. it was ok, but definitely too rich and dense for me. I am not a chocolate fiend at all. the peach and sweet cheese filling strudel like cake was definitely more to my liking. not too sweet and light, but also crisp on the top and bottom. also w/ pistachio ice cream on the side.
Waitstaff was very professional and the room is also plain, although not as spartan as Chanterelle. My favorite room of the 4 that I have tried during this year's Restaurant Week (more like summer)is La Caravelle and for food it was Judson Grill. Had cod at 3 of the restaurants (all but Chanterelle) and like Judson Grill's best. Just loving having the whole summer to sample new retaurants at lunch time w/o spending a fortune. BTW, many restaurants still offer the $20.01 lunch until year-end.
