South Tampans, listen up! It was Aldo's. Then it closed. Before that it was something else. They re-modeled. Forever. Thank goodness that it's now Cafe Anna, a very good restaurant with lots of promise and good will. I sure hope they make a go of it in this ever-evolving spot. This is an upscale but cozy restaurant, fancy but down-to-earth. The food ranges from steak medallions to chocolate griddle cakes. The sides are formidable, everything was tasty. The service could have been better but what was lacking in finess was made up for by sincerity and genuineness. Entrees are in the mid teens and up, portions are ample. It is eclectic in style, a fun place.
Give it a try now -- the management seems particularly interested in currying favor. We walked out with a coupon for a free bottle of wine next visit and an invitation to an upcoming food sampling. And we had a free dessert -- do not leave without trying that chocolate griddle cake. Yumm -- who cares about the extra lbs!
