Today's Easter Sunday and I'm just getting around to looking at my photos from before Lent. I was gifted a frozen quarter of King Cake from NOLA's Bywater Bakery.

For Mardi Gras breakfast out here in Sonoma wine country, I defrosted this piece and warmed it up. Oozing with blueberries this was more cake-like than brioche or maybe it was softer than usual after being frozen. I might have squeezed on too much of the icing, oops. In any case, decidedly butter-rich, meltingly tender and so decadent. I didn't get the baby Jesus.

A very lovely tradition you folks have!
