Where to buy good chicken in Tokyo?

chibi | Apr 15, 2003 04:24 AM

Where can I buy a whole really good chicken (preferably niwa-tori) for cooking? All the markets near me only carry packs of cut-up, pre-skinned meat. Very convenient for stir-fry, but I am craving drunken chicken, samgyetang, and other whole chicken delights.

Also, any pointers for where to get Chinese ham and sausage, or ingredients in general? I was in Yokohama Chukagai recently, and found little to rejoice about. Besides a few very good teahouses, where I found some very nice Taiwanese and Yunnanese teas, I found the place more than a little bit deathly tacky, and the food largely inedible.
