hi, all. first time poster, long time reader--i've gotten lots of great suggestions from this board over the past year or two, so a long overdue thanks for that.
anyway, i just spent the weekend gorging on sushi in halifax, found a couple of new things, and was wondering if they're available down here.
butterfish sashimi: for all i know, this is actually very common, but i don't remember having come across it before. it's a white/creamy fish, textured roughly like maguro (there were no visible fat veins on our pieces), and with an excellent flavor--rich but still delicate. anybody seen it around, or know if it might have another name?
sushi pizza: okay, so this is maybe a tad sacrilegious, but it made for a pretty tasty snack. ours was about a 6'' round, made with a compressed sushi rice 'crust' that had been fried until crispy on the outside, topped with pieces of tuna and drizzled with 'spicy' sauce. i think there were also a few sesame seeds and green onions sprinkled on. again, an archive search didn't turn anything up, but i'd definitely have this again if i could get my hands on one.
