Should've probably posted this earlier, but every Thursday Vertical Wine Bistro, with Chef LQ heading up the kitchen duties, is putting on "Burger Night".
I think the selections always stay the same (but not sure): Bison, M Bison, Kobe and Pork.
Bison burger comes with a Parmesan crisp, arugula, tomatoes and homemade aioli.
M Bison has cheese, herb dressing and caramelized onions.
Kobe comes with cheddar, tomato, grilled onion, Russian dressing, and romaine.
Pork "burger" is actually a pulled pork sandwich that (I believe) comes with cabbage slaw, goat cheese, onion marmalade and lettuce.
Everything comes on a sturdy, but non-intrusive Brioche bun (which I'm told is made in house).
We split the M Bison and the Kobe. The Bison was the star. It was not too lean and the grilled onions was a nice complement to the distinctive forest-y flavor of the meat.
Kobe burger tasted a bit off, and for some reason it wasn't "beefy" enough -- as if there was too much fat in the ground beef mixture. Dunno if it was the marbling or the russian dressing, but the burger left a sort of oily feeling in the mouth. Wasn't bad, but lacked the oomph of the Bison.
Good fries, but the onion rings are better. In fact, the onion rings are just a butt hair shy of amazing.
