Buffet City in West Los Angeles

Chandavkl | Dec 30, 200404:16 PM

Stopped by the newly opened Buffet City at 11819 Wilshire. Despite the westside location, the ambience is more like the recently opened seafood buffets in the San Gabriel valley. Weekday lunch is $7.99, weeknight dinner is $13.99 and weekends are $14.99. At least for weekday lunch, menu is Chinese food plus sushi, with very little evidence of the American and Italian items that the restaurant's brochure touts. For the westside, the food was surprisingly good. Both the steamed fish and the baked fish were excellent, and indeed the steamed flounder was the best I've had at any Chinese buffet. Coconut chicken, string beans and pepper beef were particularly good. Buffet City is certainly not as good as West Coast Seafood in Hacienda Heights or Buffet King in El Monte, but it is as good as Sea Star in Alhambra and better than Zen Buffet in Rosemead.
