another "Bueno" for Cancun

I twisted 9Lives' arm and insisted he meet me at Cancun (Downtown Xing) so I could try the pork burritos yesterday. We shared one and also threw in two tacos -- one chorizo and one steak. The pork in the burrito was delicious -- tender chunks of yumminess, with rice beans cheese and salsa enclosed in a non-steamed tortilla. (At least I don't think it was steamed, it didn't have the slightly gummy texture of those at Boca Grande, which I like by the way.) It came with good mild red salsa and 9L asked for a spicier yellower version too. Both hit the spot.

The tacos are the small simple type with choice of meat some pico de gallo and cheese. I liked the chorizo very much, the steak not so much. It was too salty, and that's saying something because I like salt. But I do love little tacos, and at $1.25 a pop, you can try all the different kinds.

The whole shbang with two drinks cost 12 bucks. I think it's a super value and I really hope they hold on. At noon there was a good-sized crowd of office and big dig workers, but nothing like the looooong line around the corner at Qdoba, a chain that serves "healthy" mexican food (what's the point?). Next time I'll need to try the Torta to compare to my favorite Tacos Lupita.
