Budapest Traditional Eats

sarahbeths | Jan 27, 201709:14 AM     1

Hi Everyone! Going to Budapest for 5 nights in mid Feb.

I think we have the more avante garde food covered: Zona, Borkonyha Wine Bar, Bock Bistro reservations. Also reserved Kispiac as I liked the reviews I read of that. Looking for some more moderately priced and "traditional" eateries, some stuff that's a little more quintessentially Hungarian/classic/timeless.

Also interested in what dishes not to miss- my husband has allergies so is a pescetarian essentially (also enjoys vegetarian). I eat most things except for veal, rabbit, lamb, venison.

Street food? I have so far identified Langos and Chimney Cakes.

Also as I've struggled before to combine sight seeing and lunching, any tips for good food convenient to main sights is highly appreciated!

I have browsed every post on Chowhound with a Budapest tag, but they are very spread out and most are fairly dated.

Thank you!
