bubur injin and other Indonesian food

Bonnie | Sep 9, 2001 05:38 PM

I just came back from Bali,l where I fell in love with the local speciality of bubur injin. It was a hot porridge-type dish made from black rice and sweetend with a little bit of coconut milk. The black rice had a really interesting texture, much more firm than other kinds of rice I've had. It was like a tropical version of oatmeal, and though the Balinese eat it for a later afternoon snack, I found it delicious for breakfast. I haven't seen it on the menu in any Indonesian restaurants here, and for that matter, I'm not too sure where to find the best Indonesian food. Can anyone help me?
