We went to Bubby's today after hanging out in the park below the Manhattan Bridge. Basically everything was either pretty awful or overpriced or both. My husband ordered the seven spice chicken which, though flavorful, was dry and at $13.95, overpriced. The kid's menu cheese quesadilla that my daughter ordered, though cheap, was very greasy. I ordered an arugula salad with roasted pear and parmesan slivers. I am unclear what they did with the pear--it was steeped in something it shouldn't of been and tasted wierd, the cheese was sliced too thick and tasted gummy. What I was most perturbed about was the pie--we ordered a slice of strawberry rhubarb pie. The crust tasted like a refrigerator, had no flakiness whatsoever and left a bad aftertaste. It might of been tasty when it was first baked but it didn't taste like it had been baked recently. The place just seems very out of control. The busboy was unable to keep track of his tables and the waiter, though nice seemed to have far to many tables. At the end of the meal I was feeling desperate to leave. Just because it is a "kid-friendly" restaurant that is no excuse for the food to be so bad.
