Craving fried chicken and waffle this morn so made my way west on Wilshire to 24th and surprised to find their parking lot in the back filled at 9:30, all the tables inside full and a couple of parties waiting in front. Glad, and a bit surprised, that they are doing such good business.

Ordered the "somebody" special fried chicken and waffle ($10.50). A bit surprised when it arrived; a large waffle covered with two large boneless breast patties, a small dunking container of warm syrup and another of brown gravy. (I was expecting real chicken pieces, but this was fine.) The pros -- these must be the chicken they use for the sandwiches, it was crispy, it was all real white meat, it was relatively easy to eat (sharper knives would help), the gravy, once peppered, added moisture and flavor, the waffle was pleasantly crunchy and light, and they syrup was good quality. The cons -- the thinner patty was dry (the thicker noticeably better), the crust was very crisp but lacked punch (I wonder if they have a spicy option). Service was efficient and friendly.

Worth a try. Closed Mondays.
