Brunch at Tryst

Eggplantress | Apr 3, 2005 09:17 PM

Went with 2 friends today for brunch at Tryst on Mass Ave in Arlington (the old Tea Tray in the Sky). Overall, it was a good meal and we all enjoyed. I had the potato ckaes with thinly sliced smoked salmon. It was served with a little mesclum green salad and julienne granny smith apples. ($12)Very nice combo. One friend had the same and the other had the french toast with apple butter.($10) I thought is was okay-pretty standard thick french toast. Not super.

The service was good and the ambiance was pleasant. It was pretty quiet in there (12 noon when we arrived) but maybe there were 5 or 6 tables full by the time we left.

The fresh breads and muffins they bring at the beginning of the meal were fabulous. The cranberry bread was great, as was the fresh blueberry muffin. These are a meal unto themselves.

The bar area (with a nice big bar as well as bistro tables) had a few tables filled as well as a couple at the bar.

I don't think I will rush back but I think it's a good option for a non-traditional brunch spot. The prices ranged from $7 for pancakes to about $27 for a lamb dish (can't remember exactly-not a meat eater).
