Brunch at Aquavit

Just thought I'd pass on my experience there: A visitor from out of town was staying in midtown so we thought brunch at Aquavit would be fun. Granted $40 per person (including coffee & a Danish Mary) is a bargain for such a posh place but I was disappointed. The herring and salad selection was lovely and the potatoes in cream and anchovies were divine but I found the hot meats were tough and chewy and the dessert selection downright boring (mini-chocolate cupcakes and macaroons?!). Not to mention the fact that we couldn't get a reservation 'til 2pm and they shut down the brunch at 2:30 so the staff started shutting down the stations before we'd even had time to get dessert and then hovered while we were eating. I'd recommend getting a selection from Russ & Daughters and a bottle of Aquavit for a nice leisurely brunch at home over this anytime.
