Bruna's update

This weekend we enjoyed a very good late night repast at Bruna's on Oakley.

Decent bread and better breadsticks hit the table ASAP with a carafe of of good fruity oil.

Bruna's maintains admirable wine list with selections ranging from $29 to over $200 per bottle.

We ordered baked clams (small, fresh and tender), penne w/ sausage and rapini in an oil and garlic preparation and spinach and ricotta stuffed shells "al forno" (both cooked perfectly al dente) all washed down with an excellent 2001 Barbera d'Asti.

We split a well wrought cannoli and two hefty shots of Averna (a bitter Sicilian digestivo) for dessert.

Bruna's has never been cheap and the entire dinner was $120 ($54 was wine and liquor) including tax and a 20% gratuity.

Service was attentive and all the goods met or exceeded our expectations.

I enjoyed many fine lunches at Bruna's a few years ago when I worked in the area and it's great to see that the owner and his crew are still operating the joint in top form.
