So I know all about the terra cotta brown sugar savers. I have two airtight progressive containers (they're actually made for brown sugar and come with the terra cotta pieces), one with light brown and one with dark brown sugar, both with the soaked terra cotta pieces. For some reason the light brown one is fine but the dark brown has turned completely hard, within a short time of soaking the terra cotta piece. They are the same brand of sugar (Wholesome). What could be the culprit? Is there an undetected crack in the container? Or could it be the particular bag of sugar? Any ideas?
