The broth IS the soup and 2 venerable SF neighborhood Chinese restaurants knew this. Alas...First off, let me finally publicly mourn the demise of the only really good Chinese restaurants in the Upper Market neighborhood - Hong Kong on Church and South China on 18th. It's such a simple thing but when it is great, it is the ultimate comfort soup - I'm talkin' 'bout wor wonton soup. The broth at Hong Kong and South China was rich - not the ubiquitous salt water that passes for broth elsewhere. Anybody know a Chinese restaurant within 2 Muni bus rides of Church and Market with great broth???
