brooklyn pizza, lexington ky

Just figured I'd put in my review of brooklyn pizza here in Lexington, KY. It's out on Man O War in a strip mall at the intersection with Todds Rd.

I was disappointed when I first arrived in Lexington and was told JoeB's was the place for pizza... but luckily we found Brooklyn pizza a while later. As a transplant from Pennsylvania, this is the first place I've had pizza in KY that has had "northeast style" pizza. The crust is crisp yet chewy, the cheese and toppings are awesome. My only gripe is the sauce is a bit bland, but that's pretty common in the northeast too ;) Besides pizza they offer a variety of calzones and hot subs.

If you head there on a Friday or Saturday night, I recommend calling your order in ahead or you'll wait in a long line just to order. Be prepared to possibly wait for a place to sit as well... that place gets packed.

The prices are a bit higher than the chain pizza places, but I'm willing to pay for good pizza. I live about 15 minutes away, but when I'm in the mood for pizza I always make the drive.

I believe the owners have opened a second one in Georgetown, KY, though I've never been there.
