Ever since The New York Times wrote about the Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory a few weeks ago, this place has been packed. An hour wait on weekend nights. The problem is, the ice cream is just okay. It's not cheap-junk, supermarket-grade three-flavors-in-a-box , clearly, but it's not even half as good as Ben & Jerry's or Haagen Dazs. Plus, the scoops on the cone are stingy.
That said, the surroundings are glorious - eating under the Brooklyn Bridge at night, with a gorgeous view of Manhattan, is simply the most spectacular setting in the country to eat ice cream. If you go, know you'll be going for that experience and will have to wait quite a bit for it. But don't go for the so-so ice cream.
