i don't know what it's called, but it has a big "Delicioso Comida Mexicana" (i think, excuse my poor spanish) painted on both sides. it's located on fordham road and valentine, one block east of fordham and grand concourse. it appears to be there most days, but not at night. it has no true menu, just the names of dishes painted on the truck. so i started off with the basic idea of what i wanted, then chose options as they gave them to me. they advertise free delivery, along with a phone number.
we tried two tacos, one al pastor and the other carne asada. corn tortillas filled to the brim with meat, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, a little cilantro and just a tiny bit of cheese. the meats were delicious! we tried a grilled quesadilla with chicken just to be sure, and yep, definitely delicioso! the quesadilla was very substantial, though i don't know the type of cheese used, and served with a mild, possibly avocado-based green salsa and mexican sour cream. the tacos were served with lime slices. they had a salsa cruda, and two salsas verdes, along with a red hot sauce. we did not try the latter, but the former three were fresh and outstanding. other people were ordering (inter alia) sopes, enchiladas, and tacos de bistek. so those are next on our list. they also have jarritos, the mexican sodas, and i had grapefruit like i always do. tacos were two bucks apiece; for various reasons we don't know how much the other stuff was.
further east along fordham road, emboldened by our grilled-meats haze, we got some cotton candy from a dude with a huge plume of puffy colors. we chose green and it turned out to have a vaguely lime flavor. there's just something a little naughty about cotton candy in february!
further east, as we were walking through fordham plaza, at the metro north station, we noticed another mexican food stall, serving folks from both sides. this one with quite an elaborate menu and a bit of a crowd waiting for food. we were too stuffed to try it, but that is on tap for this weekend!
just to finish off our low-dough splurge, we continued a bit southerly (i don't know the street, but it's the one that ends at the fordham university library) and went to the beverage outlet, where we bought 12 negra modelos for $13.
