Broken jaw / no chewing in SF - suggestions please?

Jawbone | Sep 8, 201011:30 AM     7

I will be visiting San Francisco in mid-October. I have a broken jaw and can't eat anything that needs me to chew it (yes, this is hell; fortunately I can still drink). Would love any tips regarding:

1. Restaurants where I can eat creamed spinach and mashed potatoes and my gentleman friend, jaw intact, can have something delicious. Bonus points here for French or Spanish or anywhere with sausages and/or cured meats.

2. Places to get great take-out soup that I can take back to the hotel room and puree with my new best friend the hand blender.

We'll be staying in Union Square but are open to all suggestions. Thanks very much for any help.
